The Pseudokraken

What’s this? A Barlowes’ Moon drawing? Yeah, this project ain’t dead, just dormant. Also I have fineliner now, so hopefully future deviations will pop more in spite of the pale scanner.

The Pseudokraken is an elephant-sized hexapodal herbivore that is commonly found in the forests of Barlowes’ Moon. The mouthparts are modified into tusks used to extract sap from trees. They communicate by inflating brightly coloured, bioluminescent air bladders on the back of their heads, which also produce loud trumpeting calls when deflated. Males are larger than females and have much larger tusks and air bladders. Females typically live in small herds, while males are typically solitary. They are fiercely territorial, and male Pseudokraken will defend their patch with threat displays, before using their tusks. The sight of a males’ glowing markings and air bladders in the dark of the night is as captivating as it is intimidating.
